“Welcome to Riverside”
Artist: Marty Tobias
Sponsor: Riverside Visitors’ Center

Martin “Marty” Tobias works in a variety of media. From a background as a graphic designer, his contemporary acrylic paintings and prints depict his professional artistic interpretation that captures the eye and mind of the viewer.

Tobias grew up in New York City, where he attended the High School of Music & Art and received his BFA from the Cooper Union Art School in New York. His advanced studies continued for two years at the Art Students League and two more years with the Bauhaus abstractionist, Hans Hoffman in New York. He then sharpened his skills through top level advertising art work on Madison Avenue. As an independent Art Director he created promotional material for some of the leading advertising agencies and magazines in New York.

The search for a more tranquil lifestyle eventually led Tobias to settle in Riverside, where he worked as Art Director for Bourns Inc., a large electronics manufacturer. After a few years he shifted his emphasis to producing fine art works, still retaining his sensitivity to the needs of the business world. Tobias has been represented by numerous art dealers, publishers and distributors throughout the world. Corporate clients proudly display his work in offices, hotel chains, law offices, banks, hospitals, restaurants and various businesses. Whether a rural landscape, rugged beach scene, or recognizable point of interest, his unique sense of space and color is always present as a major part of the work.  Locally his work hangs in the City Hall, Mission Inn, all the local Riverside hospitals, and many homes and businesses in the area. His depictions of our local landmarks have given his art wide public acceptance and favorable comments by art reviewers throughout the region.
