Dolly Parton

A Multitalented Lady!

Everyone in Country Music knows this little lady who had big dreams as a young girl of one day becoming a Country singer went after her dream and she made it happen and in a BIG way! Singing and playing her guitar at a very young age, I doubt if even Dolly herself had any idea of just how far she'd go in the music business. Born in Locust Ridge, Tennessee and raised in the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee in a small home in the hills, Dolly, one of twelve children came from very humble roots. She has on numerous occasions when being interviewed, told some delightful stories of her childhood and family. Dolly's quick wit is just one of many charming attributes she processes. Her openness and honesty is at times humorous and also very touching. On May 30th 1966 Dolly married Carl Dean. A very private man, Carl chooses not to share the spotlight of his mega star wife, Dolly. She's written more than 3,000 songs in her life time! Her biggest hit song of her own version, along with Whitney Houston and her duet with Vince Gill has been, "I Will Always Love You". Dolly has had 24 #1 hits and released countless albums. Then there's her acting career, Dollywood, her theme park in the Smokey Mountains. You name it and she's had a hand in it, always looking for new and different things to keep her excited and busy.

I told Shirley, 'I don't believe in reincarnation - and I didn't believe in it when I lived before, either.'"

Dolly at her home in the Smokey Mountains where she retreated to write the songs for her latest album, "Hungry Again" She felt she needed to get back to her roots, the basics. When she went back home to write, she took the albums name literally, Dolly fasted for three weeks in preparation.  Something Dolly said she has done all her life for spiritual reasons and to loose weight. Dolly was quoted as saying, "This wasn't something I did for money, this was something I needed to do for me. It was my music that started it all. It's what meant the most to me." "Everything in this album is bits and pieces of me," says Dolly.
